Not so much snow here in Canada - but OK when Per got up on the mountains, so all good.
After five days in San Francisco we flew to Vancouver in Canada and from there we drove to Whistler - so that Per could do some skiing :) Some more skiing I should say - as he'd just had a couple of weeks in Europe before meeting me in San Francisco. Unfortunately Per got a virus while in Europe so he didn't get so much out of the skiing as he wasn't feeling 100% - he even had days where he had to stay in bed, which is very unusual for Per! Not so much snow here in Canada - but OK when Per got up on the mountains, so all good. Monday Per took a day off skiing and we took a trip to Brandywine Falls.

After almost three weeks on my own, I flew off to meet Per in San Francisco - so exciting :) Nick and Ali took me to the airport and I had an extremely easy flight - only 12 hours - nothing compared to going to Europe :) And I do like flying Air NZ, they are so much fun and very relaxed - you can't help enjoying yourself :) When arriving in San Francisco Per was just outside - literally JUST outside - so in no time we were back at our hotel on Union Square - in the middle of the best shopping in San Francisco...... The only 'problem' was that it was cold, grey and rainy - but then again - it's winter, so to be expected. But Per had made a reservation at a really good steak restaurant (Epic) - so the weather didn't really matter :) The next day we had to set-up our booth at the IBM conference and try to find out how busy this conference was going to be. There was a welcome reception in the evening with all the customers - and that would indicate how busy the next three days would be. It turned there wasn't a lot of people - Per guessed around 1000 and Scott guessed around 1500 - including Partners and IBM staff.... So because there were so few customers at the conference Per said I didn't have to be at the conference - so all I could do was to go shopping - what a shame :D San Francisco is better than New York - we think. The buildings are more interesting and not so tall so San Fran feels more 'airy' than New York - which can sometimes be a bit claustrophobic as you feel trapped between the very tall buildings and you can't see 'out'. Also San Fran is smaller and therefore not so overwhelming I guess. So we had 5 days in San Fran and besides the evenings, Per had some time off on the last day so we could do some sightseeing. We wanted to go back to Pier 39 at Fisherman's Wharf. Last time we were there was when we moved to New Zealand, so 18 years ago..... And let's just say - things had changed in 18 years... :) For the first time Per's away on holiday without me... Yes, never happened before! But since we're going to Europe again in May it was just too silly - and expensive - for me to go away so that Per could go skiing. So instead Per is meeting up with Mette, Morten and Mathias in Cortina, Italy, where they have a week of skiing together and then Per's got a bit of time together with Magnus as well - also skiing in Italy, before he continues on to US - where I'm meeting him in San Francisco. So while Per's skiing, I get to stay in Auckland, in the most amazing summer weather - so I'm actually not complaining - at all :) Picnic in the Domain together with Nick, Ali, Russell and Gaye. And they're all so good at looking after me. Picking me up, and taking me back home again, so I don't have to worry about having a glass or two of bubbles - how amazing is that :)
I've got two more weeks here in NZ before I leave for San Fran - where it's a 'bit' colder than here. We've got a conference in San Fran so we're staying there for a week, and then we fly to Vancouver in Canada and go from there to Whistler, where Per's got another week of skiing. And while he's skiing I'm doing yoga. I've completely fallen in love with yoga and what it does to your body - it's amazing. So for me it'll just be 2 weeks away, which is absolutely fine with me, and then back home to summer in NZ again: We then leave for Denmark beginning of May, to go to Maja's confirmation. So we're staying for 10 days in Denmark - have rented a bach or summer house again in Nord-sjælland and after that we then fly to Sardinia in Italy, where we'll stay for a couple of weeks before going back to NZ again.... So as always - lots of things happening :) |
