Today is Mathias' Birthday so we all had breakfast together - in our rented bach. Mette had baked birthday boller (buns) and went to the bakery to buy Danish pastry - so way too much food from early on in the day........ Later in the day Morten's parents arrived in time for dinner - and so we had more food and more wine..... :)

We've rented a bach in Gilleleje - North of Copenhagen - close to the beach. We arrived Saturday and will stay for a week - with the kids here most of the time together with us. Saturday my brother and sister-in-law (Jens and Marianne) came for dinner. The weather was amazing so we ended up doing steaks on the fire - it was soooo good!! But as usual the Danish weather is...... well, Danish. So Sunday it was raining most of the day - even though we were lucky to have a break around lunch time, so that we could sit outside and eat lunch :) And Monday wasn't much better, so we've done a lot of board and card games - and a lot of eating and drinking :) Gilleleje has its own harbour where you can go and buy freshly caught fish - so we've had amazing food - as always :) Both Per and I have now arrived safely in Europe. We were on the same plane to Singapore, and then Per continued on to London and I went directly to Copenhagen. While in transit in Singapore, I happened to walk by a TV and saw the news about a big earthquake in Italy. And... it turned out that we had plans to go through the town that was worst hit - so we'll have to change our plans a bit... So instead of driving far south and then cross inland to Perugia, we'll have to cross from East to West 'higher up' in order to avoid these areas... I was supposed to stay with my brother and sister-in-law; Jens and Marianne, for a couple of days before Per arrives, but their son had an accident while on holiday in Germany - on a Mountain Bike, so they had to drive down to see him in hospital so instead I'm staying with Mette, Morten, Maja, Mathias and Silke :) And the weather - what can I say. I have arrived on THE best summer day in Copenhagen - so can't complain about that :) Per started about a month ago - not feeling good, which is very unusual for Per - happens very seldom - and thank God for that! He was down with a real man-flu for 2 weeks - yes - 2 WEEKS!! And I stayed home and took care of him - not always an easy task... as he gets very cranky when he's sick! But he's now back on his feet.
A couple of days after Per got better - I started feeling sick.... And now I've been down for almost 2 weeks with the same flu. And it's a nasty one. Making your brain go completely blank - or more blank than usual... :) And we leave for Europe on Wednesday, so I'm struggling to make sure I'm OK before we leave. So not much to tell as absolutely nothing has happened for the last month other than us lying low.... So as you can probably imagine, we're really looking forward to leaving on Wednesday. Wednesday I'm going straight to Denmark, to stay with my brother and sister-in-law for a couple of days - until Per arrives from UK after a couple of days of business. We have then rented a bach in Denmark where we're staying for a week together with the kids. And from there we fly to Italy - and Tina and Lucas are going to join us for the first week. The first week will be in Cortina for 4 days - doing some walks in the mountains - and then a couple of days in Venice, before Tina and Lucas fly back home from there. Per and I then continue our 2 week road-trip down the Eastern coast of Italy - where we haven't been before - and have some days in Urbino in Le Marche - inland - and then some days along the coast before we turn west and drive back through Perugia and Tuscany - to end up in Zürich and then home from there. Sooo looking forward to visiting Italy again - one of our favourite places :) So more interesting posts from next week! xx |
