Saturday morning we had breakfast at Tina and Janus's before our usual 'See you again dinner' in the evening. (We don't like calling them 'Goodbye dinners' :D) We ate at 'Brace' in old part of Copenhagen - a lovely place, but the food not so good.... but we still had a lovely, lovely evening.
And we're back in Denmark, where the temperature is just so much more 'me'. We arrived late last night (Friday) and we leave Tuesday to go back to NZ - with just one night in Singapore on the way. Sunday we had breakfast at Morten's parents, Pia and Martin and as always they served the most amazing meal...... so much food :) In the evening (Midsummer night) Per and I celebrated our anniversary, eating dinner at Gråbrødre Torv and then we went to Tivoli to watch the bonfire - the witches being sent off to Germany - which is the way Danes celebrate Midsummer every year :) Monday we just walked around Copenhagen, visiting some of our favourite places and had lunch at one of our old favourite cafes. Also we couldn't help staring at all the young people swimming and sun-bathing along the harbour. Copenhagen has cleaned up the whole harbour, so that you can swim in the harbour, which is quite amazing. - and oh my, is people using it. As soon as the sun is out it's full of people. What a really nice day <3 Tomorrow we're leaving Copenhagen - having one night in Singapore and then back home to New Zealand :D

We finished off our trip to Greece with a couple of days in Portacheli, about 3 hours south of Athens. (Just to be closer to the airport, so we didn't miss the flight :) Again - town not as charming as the islands and the hotel was a story on it's own.... Apparently we happened to have chosen THE hotel where the young Greek jetsetters go on holiday...... Lucky for us it was still kind of out of season, so not too many people in the hotel. But even with the few Greeks there we experienced what this jetsetter life was like..... Came down to the bar to have a glass of wine as the sun was setting - in the hope of just sitting there enjoying the last of the sun and looking out over the beautiful sea just in front of us....... such a peaceful time of day. But - the techno music (as I've been told it's called....) was so loud we couldn't even speak to each other, let alone enjoy the last rays of the sun. And the bass was just pounding so you could feel it beat going through your bones...... not what we really had envisioned for quiet time.... I can only imagine what it will be like during high season...... So if you're in your 20s (or even 30s) and into party and loud music - this is the place for you - but NOT for us, no matter how young at heart we are :) And our week in Peloponnese was just too hot for me - over 30 degrees is just too much for me and we had days with 36-37 degrees......... So again - so happy we've seen it, but not expecting to come back. A couple of photos from Nafplio - a pretty little town we visited on our way to Portacheli (again - not pretty as the islands, but definitely the prettiest town we've seen in Peloponnese.. And we had a nice lunch here - even though it was very, very hot! Next are photos from Portacheli and the island of Spetzes - just 10 minutes ferry ride from Portacheli.r Peloponnese (mainland) is more authentic than the islands - but..... somehow we both associate Greece with little white houses and blue (or pink, green) windows and shutters. So we still prefer the islands - and then we'll just have to find some smaller islands with less tourists - and that should still be possible. Naxos is still OK if you come before or after high season - so May or September. May is more green and fresh - but the water hasn't heated up yet, and September the water is nice and warm, but everything has been 'burned off' so the colours are brown and dark. Your choice :) Here's a few photos of our hotel - Camvillia. Peloponnese is very hilly and there are lots and lots of olive trees. Houses are more 'Italian' in browns and beige and high cypresses - reminded us of Sardinia. The little towns are not as pretty as the islands and they are fewer and further apart, so you kind of need a car if you want to get around. In Naxos you can take the bus to other beaches, but her in Peloponnese it's just too big and too difficult to get around if you haven't got a car. To us it just hasn't got the same charm as the islands. But we're really glad we've seen it now - and tomorrow we're going to see a bit more when we drive on to the next place. A panorama photo of Naoussa old harbour. It's a lovely place to sit and have dinner - or lunch - but Per and I agree that Naoussa has become too upmarket, too popular. It's beginning to look like Mykonos, which is all about expensive shops, high-end restaurants and party, party, party. So the town is now full of 'beautiful' young people, with designer clothes and high heels - and let me tell you, high heels is NOT a good idea with the kind of streets here in Naoussa - but they don't care - it's all about looking good and be seen. And... we're even here just before the season really begins - July and August must be absolutely crowded and awful. So if we're ever coming back to Naoussa it'll have to be in May or September - June is already too busy for us. Actually we like Naxos better now. Naxos is still more authentic Greek - even though there are a couple of high-end restaurants in Naxos as well - so maybe in a couple of years Naxos will be 'ruined' too :( Next time we come to Greece we just might have to choose some smaller islands - less touristic and more authentic. The last couple of photos from Paros - mostly cats..... and yet another beautiful spot to have lunch.... :) Søren and Anette left yesterday so we're now on our own again. We had a lovely, lovely time with Søren and Anette - or Prop and Dyt - only sounds funny in Danish :D Monday we went into the 'big' town here on Paros - Parikia. There are some nice shops in there, so Anette and I left the 'boys' at a cafe and went around the shops. We didn't find a lot though, but Anette did buy a few things. Other than that we just walked around the little streets of Paikia - very nice and not as 'polished' as Naoussa. A bit more 'real' maybe where Naoussa is more upmarket because of more tourists. Today - Tuesday - Per and I walked into town (Naoussa) and had another walk in the little streets - and we got lost again - nothing better :) We had lunch at the old harbour and while we were eating a fisherman was cleaning a stingray he'd caught right next to our table and we could see the little fish swimming around the boat - eating all the skin of the stingray he was throwing over-board. Saturday morning we took the ferry to Paros - only half an hour from Naxos (which was good - as the sea was a bit rough). We are staying at Lily's Residence - where we've stayed before - a lovely little hotel and the manager remembered us well from last time.... so Per must have made an impression ;) The only room left when we reserved our room was a Diamond suite - and WOW - what a room - or rooms. It's just my style - sooo beautiful in every way. All white with soft green and blues and the use of light wood - very Scandinavian and very me :D And.... my own little meditation/yoga room. In Paros we met up with some very good friends from Denmark - Søren and Anette and we're going to have 3 days together before Søren and Anette returns to Denmark. We have had an amazing week with Mette and family in Naxos. The weather has been amazing all week - 25-27 degrees and a little bit windy some days, but that has actually been nice :) We haven't done a lot, besides relaxing at the beach, walking the little streets of Naxos town and then of course eaten a lot of good food! (And Per would add - had a lot of good wine too :) But that's what a holiday is all about! I'm loving the colours in Greece - the white houses with colourfull shutters and plants in olive oil containers - it's just such pure and simple beauty. And... when you then add all the cats - you end up with a lot of good subjects/objects for good photos :) Well, as always when in Greece - don't expect too much of your internet connection - which is kind of nice, since we should be spending time AWAY from phones and computers :) We're now in Greece. Started with three days in Frankfurt - where Per had a conference - kind of on the way to Greece. Then two days in Athens - staying in Plaka - the old part of Athens - which we absolutely adore. We didn't do much - just tried to relax and get ready for a great holiday. And now we're in Naxos - one of our favourite islands in Greece. We absolutely love the main town, where we can get lost in the little streets - just like in Venice. There are great beaches here and the food is yummy - if you love Greek food - and who doesn't...... Mette, Morten, Mathias and Silke arrived Saturday night and will be staying for a week here in Naxos, before they go back to Denmark and we continue on to Paros. The family :) And sorry - but can't help myself - the cats......... So far it's been a lovely week in Frankfurt, Athens and now Naxos and the weather is just perfect. Frankfurt was nice and warmish, Athens a bit too hot (31 degrees) and Naxos is just right - about 26 degrees and with a breeze, making it possible to be outside without melting.
