Here's a few photos of our hotel - Camvillia.
To us it just hasn't got the same charm as the islands. But we're really glad we've seen it now - and tomorrow we're going to see a bit more when we drive on to the next place.
Peloponnese (mainland) is more authentic than the islands - but..... somehow we both associate Greece with little white houses and blue (or pink, green) windows and shutters. So we still prefer the islands - and then we'll just have to find some smaller islands with less tourists - and that should still be possible. Naxos is still OK if you come before or after high season - so May or September. May is more green and fresh - but the water hasn't heated up yet, and September the water is nice and warm, but everything has been 'burned off' so the colours are brown and dark. Your choice :) Here's a few photos of our hotel - Camvillia. Peloponnese is very hilly and there are lots and lots of olive trees. Houses are more 'Italian' in browns and beige and high cypresses - reminded us of Sardinia. The little towns are not as pretty as the islands and they are fewer and further apart, so you kind of need a car if you want to get around. In Naxos you can take the bus to other beaches, but her in Peloponnese it's just too big and too difficult to get around if you haven't got a car. To us it just hasn't got the same charm as the islands. But we're really glad we've seen it now - and tomorrow we're going to see a bit more when we drive on to the next place.
